Secondly, when I use my alienware graphics amplifier with an external monitor attached while using my laptop monitor at the same time, and go to display settings to view the two different monitors settings, I press "Detect" and it says it cannot detect multiple monitors. Well, I'm not an expert, but I'm assuming since the NVIDIA Control panel only shows 3d settings, it's not utilizing my dGPU. I've tried even doing stupid things like disabling the intel adapter, and uninstalling it but neither of them help. I attempted to try to get the eGPU to run on my laptop, but wouldn't work, so I unplugged it completely, and found that it won't even run my dGPU anymore for everyday things and when I went into my NVIDIA control panel it only shows me 3d settings.Īs yo can see, the 980m display driver is present, but I can't seem to activate it. That being said, the amplifier works perfectly with my external monitor, but not with my laptop monitor, even when i unplug my external monitor and only have my laptop plugged into it. Originally both monitors would be run by the eGPU from the amplifier (gtx 1070), but for a while i only used on monitor, and I decided to run both again so I can watch youtube videos while playing video games it would make everything lag since it used only my iGPU for my laptop, and my game is heavily CPU dependent. I have been using the alienware amplifier with an external monitor that's 144hz. Lately I've been playing video games that bottleneck my CPU and not my GPU.
